Adding a photo to a record properly
Attach a photo that captures the defect clearly and tags itself with GPS, time, plot, and record reference.
Practical steps
- 1
Open the record. Tap the camera glyph in the toolbar.
- 2
Three options usually appear: Camera, Library, Sketch. Pick Camera unless the photo already exists.
- 3
Lock focus on the area of concern, not the wider scene. Get within arm's reach if possible.
- 4
Tap to take the photo. The app holds the photo against the record reference automatically.
- 5
Add a one-line caption: what is wrong, where on the element, and the date. The caption becomes searchable.
- 6
Confirm sync runs when the device is back on Wi-Fi. The QA team will see the photo on the same record.
Key takeaways
- Get close. Wide shots make the defect impossible to find six months later.
- Captions are searchable text. Three words is better than no caption.
- Sync confirmation is the only way to be sure the QA team can see the photo.
