Reopening a closed issue without breaking the audit trail

Reopen a closed issue while preserving the original closure record for audit purposes.

Practical steps

  1. 1

Find the closed issue. Most apps hide closed issues by default; toggle Show Closed to find it.

  2. 2

Open the issue. Tap Reopen rather than duplicating the record.

  3. 3

Add a reason for reopen in the comment field. This becomes part of the audit trail.

  4. 4

Reassign to the correct sub-contractor if they have changed.

  5. 5

Confirm the original closure record is preserved in the activity log. If it is missing, contact your admin.

Key takeaways

  • Always reopen the original issue, never duplicate. Duplicates break audit trails.
  • Reason-for-reopen comments protect you legally if the issue is investigated later.
  • The activity log must show both the original closure and the reopen event.
