Snagging· 120s·FREE

Logging a defect that actually gets closed

Write a defect record specific enough that the sub-contractor can find it and fix it without coming back to ask.

Practical steps

  1. 1

Open snagging. Tap plus to create a new defect.

  2. 2

Title: 7 words or fewer. Describe the problem, not the location. Location goes in the plot field.

  3. 3

Plot, room, element. These three fields together let any tradesperson find the defect in 30 seconds.

  4. 4

Photo set: one wide shot showing the defective area, one tight shot showing the actual defect, one of any measurement.

  5. 5

Trade: pick the responsible trade. This drives auto-routing to the right sub-contractor.

  6. 6

Priority: critical, major, minor. Default to minor; only escalate if the defect blocks completion.

Key takeaways

  • Title describes the problem, not the location. Location lives in the structured plot/room/element fields.
  • Wide-then-tight photos: one to find the area, one to see the defect.
  • Defaulting to minor priority keeps the urgent list actually urgent.
